Ceramic coating vs. sealant vs. wax: what's worth it?
All three do the same basic job: put a protective layer between your paint and the world. They differ in how long they last, how glossy they look and what they cost.
| Wax | Sealant | Ceramic coating | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Made of | Natural (carnauba) | Synthetic polymers | Silica (SiO₂) that bonds to paint |
| Lasts in FL sun | 3–6 weeks | 3–6 months | 2–5+ years |
| Look | Warm glow | Sharp, glassy shine | Deep, candy-like gloss |
| Water beading | Good | Very good | Excellent |
| Cost | $ | $$ | $$$ (one-time) |
Wax
Looks great, but Florida heat breaks it down quickly. Best for show-car enthusiasts who enjoy waxing often.
Sealant
The sweet spot for most daily drivers. Included in our Full Detail and ZR Gold Package, it gives months of UV protection and easier washing for a small cost.
Ceramic coating
A semi-permanent layer that's harder than clear coat. Dirt, bugs, bird droppings and water spots release easily, and the paint stays glossy for years with proper washing. Because it locks in whatever is underneath, the paint is decontaminated and usually polished first. That's why coatings cost more.
What about paint correction?
Correction is different: it removes defects like swirl marks, light scratches and oxidation by machine-polishing the clear coat. Protection products then protect the corrected finish. Think of correction as fixing and coating as protecting.
Our take: keeping the car 3+ years, or it's new or freshly corrected? A ceramic coating pays off. Otherwise, a sealant every 4–6 months is great value. Ask us for a free quote.
